Connector or Collector?

It’s an adventure diving into the world of ePortfolio creation! I like the simple ideas of the minimalist fundamentals of ePortfolios. My biggest takeaway is that this ePortfolio needs to reflect not only what I am learning but the connections I make between the things I learn, my previous knowledge, and my experience. I want to be a dot connector, not just a dot collector (Harapnuik, 2015).

With the abundance of information available it is very easy for me to think I am learning as I listen to podcasts or watch documentaries or read books and articles. I am starting to understand that acquiring this information is really not building up my learning as much as it could. I could certainly deepen my learning, and have something to show for all my dot collecting, if I took the time to express my thoughts and the connections that I made while listening/watching/reading. I look forward to sharing those connections here.
